The second phase, including a new health and fitness facility, is due to
commence on site in Summer 2018.
Our new build 4 star scheme for Apex Hotels in Bath finished during
the year (just in time to host our Directors’ Conference in September)
as did our Citizen M project at the Gare de Lyon in Paris for HSBC.
New commissions secured during the period include two projects
for our Manchester office, we are providing monitoring services for
Coutts Bank in Manchester and Stoke on Trent.
In the Czech Republic we were appointed on the “Hotel Old Inn”,
Ceský Krumlov, South Bohemia for Bohemia Properties. The project
involves the refurbishment of three historic buildings and is due for
completion in 2019.
For something a little different, we acted for IMMO Development on
the restoration of a boat on the River Vltava in Prague to create the
luxury Marina Ristorante. The restaurant opened in the Spring of the
reporting period.
Commercial and Retail
The London office continued to work on a number of important
schemes in the West End, Midtown and West London. Our
confidential scheme for a client in the legal sector is due to commence
on site this year.
In Bristol we were appointed by RBS to act on the new International
Convention Centre at the Celtic Manor Hotel in Newport.
Our NewWalk project in Leicester for Sowden Group and our research
and design facility scheme for Royal Enfield in Leicestershire are both
due to complete this year.
In Prague, after some delay, our large, mixed-use Borislavka scheme
for KKCG Real Estate is finally due to start on site this financial year.
Industrial
As well as a number of smaller projects throughout the UK, our
Birmingham office is working on two notable projects in the sector:
— Vaughan Trading Estate, phase one of five for Commercial
Estates Group (CEG) is on site
— Lifecast - we have prepared cost plans for a new concrete plant
and are awaiting client instructions to progress to the next stage.
Utilities, Transport and Communication
In the UK our London and Bristol offices continued to work for BT
during the period on projects in Cheltenham, Leicester and Ipswich.
Our London office is also working on phase one of the 21CN (BT
Data Centre roll out programme) initially comprising three sites in the
London area.
In the West Country, our Bristol office is working on a number of
infrastructure contracts for Bath and North East Somerset Council.
These are due to complete in 2018.
Heritage and Conservation
This has again proven to be a busy sector for us during the year.
Our ongoing role as an advisor to the Heritage Lottery Fund resulted
in a number of commissions, including Sydney Gardens, the historic
Victorian Pleasure Gardens in Bath.
Our Bristol office is also working on the Dorset County Museum
project and for the Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, both of
which are due to commence on site in Summer 2018. We are acting
as Cost Consultant on both projects.
In Birmingham, the office is working on the early stages of
Peterborough Museum and the Black Country Living Museum in
support of potential HLF bids.
In London our CDM team secured the commission to act as client’s
CDM advisor on a significant new project for the Museum of London.
In Manchester, the office continues to win a steady stream of work in
the ecclesiastical sector with a number of church repair and restoration
projects secured in the North West of England during the period.
Education
Our IPI pilot project on the Advance 2 Centre for Advanced
Construction Technologies at Dudley College completed during the
reporting period.
Our iconic Vijay Patel building for De Montfort University in Leicester
also finished during the year and has been shortlisted for and won a
number of industry awards.
