Description
Pontardawe Arts Centre has gained a reputation as an important cultural venue in South Wales. The theatre hosts professional work of the highest calibre, from classical music to drama and dance, literature and children’s theatre to blues and world music. The Arts Centre provides facilities for community events and meetings alongside a bar, café and an art gallery.
The scheme includes the internal reconfiguration of the existing facilities and the construction of a new 70-seat cinema extension.
The work was undertaken whilst providing minimal disruption to the operation of the existing facilities, on a tight site with a maze of buried services beneath the footprint of the new extension.
The team have been tasked with delivering a BREEAM “Excellent” building to align with the client’s environmental strategy.
