Description
Repair and Conservation work to historic Grade 1 listed Cathedral and Scheduled Ancient Monument, together with exhibition, learning and participation programme and improved interpretation.
The project also included the provision of a new green oak framed Learning Centre with capacity for up to 100 people with striking views of the Cathedral and the re-creation of an authentic Apothecary’s Garden.
Works within the Cathedral were carried out whilst the Cathedral remained open to the public and requiried complex phasing (especially in relation to the annual Christmas Market and Ice Rink) and extensive temporary protection works including crash deck.
The Learning Centre won an award at the Civic Trust Awards South East 2016.
The Learning Centre won an award at the RIBA South Awards 2016.
